An important update on our 2020 season due to COVID-19

Dear Coronado Playhouse friends and supporters,

We are extremely grateful to you for your support since this epidemic hit our community so hard. The decisions we make about moving forward affect so many people – artists, technicians and patrons alike. Thank you for understanding as many things have been changing regarding our upcoming programming in these uncertain times.

And thank you to so many of you who have offered your emotional and financial help. We are truly privileged to have the support of this amazing and resilient community!

Your ticketing options:

Susan in our box office is working diligently and remotely to contact all of you affected by changes to our programming. We are pleased to offer you these options for your consideration:

  • Receive a refund.
  • Donate your ticket back to CPH. You will receive a donation letter to use for your taxes.
  • Transfer your tickets to another production.
  • Receive a gift certificate to be used for any show in 2020 or 2021. Gift certificates will be mailed and can be transferred as desired.

We hope you will consider a donation to help us through this difficult time. Coronado Playhouse has had 74 glorious years. We are hopeful we can weather the storm to bring you more in 2020, our 75th season and beyond.

With countless hours of design and technical rehearsals under their belts, this team is hopeful to share this hilarious farce with you.

This show is tentatively scheduled to open June 5. House capacity is being kept at 50% of capacity to implement the currently requested 6 feet of social distancing.

If you have tickets for Moon Over Buffalo, we have been making calls to reschedule you. However, we are giving you more options (see above).

Anything Goes

The cast of Anything Goes

We have canceled our next production Anything Goes. This was to be the typically epic musical you have come to expect from CPH, with 23 performers and an 8-piece live band.

We thank the design team and these talented performers. We simply cannot mount this show given today’s challenges. We want to give a special thank you to co-directors Justin Allen Slagle and Amanda Graham-Hyden, music director Terry Hendricks and choreographer Fred DeBerg. You all are and will continue to be part of the CPH family.

If you have tickets for Anything Goes, we will be making calls to accommodate you. We are giving you options with your tickets (see above).

Notes from My Shelf: The Songs of Ian Brandon

We are postponing Notes from My Shelf: The Songs of Ian Brandon.

We are hoping this one-night-only event can be rescheduled later in the year.

If you have tickets, the box office has been making calls to accommodate you. Again, we are giving you options with your tickets (see above).

Closer than Ever

We are postponing Closer than Ever.

We are hoping this cabaret weekend, featuring Ralph Johnson, Sandy Campbell, Lee Lampard Stone and Drew Martin can be rescheduled later this year.

If you have tickets, the box office has been making calls to accommodate you. Again, we are giving you options with your tickets (see above).

Richard III Auditions

We have cancelled in-person auditions for Richard III, part of our free classic series.

However, we are accepting “self-tape” submissions in preparation to mount this July production.

A Note to Our Community Regarding Coronavirus and COVID-19

Coronado Playhouse is following the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health in response to the spread of Coronavirus and COVID-19.

Our upcoming production of Moon Over Buffalo will be postponed until April 3, pending any further development and government directives on this issue.

Additionally, our upcoming production of Notes from My Shelf: The Songs of Ian Brandon will be postponed. A future date is currently being decided upon.

Currently, ticket sales for these two performances is on hold. Ticket sales will resume as the situation allows. The box office is in the process of rebooking those who have booked performances in March.

We want to assure you that the safety and security of all our patrons, artists, staff and volunteers is our highest priority. When performances resume, please know that we have enacted several steps, among them…

Here’s what we are doing:

  • We are limiting the number of patrons for our next production to 50% of capacity to implement the requested 6 feet of social distancing.
  • We are taking an aggressive approach to sanitizing and disinfecting our spaces. We continue to disinfect table tops, and now are disinfecting table tops, chairs, doorknobs and other surfaces with a bleach solution.
  • Recycled tickets are not being used. Instead, your program will have your seat number limiting the handling of tickets.
  • We ask that if you are not feeling well, please call the box office to reschedule your tickets! Exchange rates will be waived until further notice.
  • We urge Playhouse staff and volunteers who feel ill to stay home and consult their healthcare providers. We are also urging all to be vigilant about frequent hand washing, covering a cough or sneeze and to remain home when not feeling well.

Thank you for supporting Coronado Playhouse!
